Abstract
This article seeks to examine the possibility of improvement of information systems development in educational institutions. For this purpose the domestic and world experience in this area was analyzed, and main characteristics and problems were identified and classified. In response to shortcomings of the classical approach to information systems development a different approach was proposed. This approach involves the use of technology of business process management. Advantages and disadvantages of both approaches were specified and opposed to each other. And, as a result, certain recommendations were made on the use of technology of business process management within the framework of information systems development in educational institutions.
