Abstract
The author analyzes the problems and prospects of reforming both the entire Russian education at its higher education level and the legal education, in particular. In the article there are reflected the contemporary conditions of the reform of higher education; presented the most complex issues facing higher education institutions that train lawyers, connected with ensuring the quality of the educational process and the success of their employment; evaluated the position of the state in supporting the reform of legal education. The author highlights the most promising areas of reforming legal education taking into consideration the objective needs of the modern Russian society.
