In the article, the conditions and factors having impact on evolution of military education are considered. The author shows that the change of social-economic and political system determines a number of important features in the training of military personnel for the defence of the state. It is also shown how the transformations in the main spheres of life of the society lead to the changes in the military art, which is necessary for understanding of functioning of the system of military education. On one hand, the changing conditions and nature of conducting the armed fight cause the development of means and ways of conducting fighting actions by new types of armed forces; on the other hand, the same conditions influence the change of policy of the states in the area of military education.
