Abstract
The level of people’s literacy is a problem of state importance. The decline of literacy among the speakers of the modern Russian language bears witness to the decline of culture and society in general and the decrease of the level of national consciousness, which ultimately leads to disappearance of national identity and failing of the state in some basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government.
