The present work is devoted to the research of ontological and gnoseological problems of the quality of higher education from the positions of social philosophy. The main ontological problem of the higher education quality in modern Russia is a contradiction between the socially desirable and the real quality of professional training of the majority of higher education graduates. The main gnoseological problem is that the theoretical concepts of socially desirable and real quality of professional training of the higher education graduates have not yet had such philosophical-methodological understanding that would suffice for their empiric interpretation. The real national strategic goals of the higher education quality are saving and utmostdevelopment of the vital powers of the nation, providing sovereignty and integrity of the country, using its resources for the well-being of the majority of Russian population.
