Abstract
In the article there is described the content of a special course developed specifically for the oriental studies students. There is raised the issue of the gender features of language and speech; there are described the factors of transformations occurring in the male and female speech styles; a study is conducted of how the changing in gender relations can influence the transformations in the speech style; and an attempt is made to reveal the importance of these transformations in the aspect of forming the gender identity. The author also pays a great attention to the question of applying the discourse approach to the analysis of modern speech practices.
