Stratigraphy, Gegeneral Technical Properties and Evolution of Peat Deposits in the Basin of the Khantai Water Reservoir

Abstract
Peat deposits of the hydromorphic swamp complex on the poorly explored right-hand bank of the Yenisei river in the subzone of northern taiga have been studied. A brief geobotanic characteristic of the vegetable cover of the swamp massif, stratigraphy and some general technical properties of peat deposits are presented. It is found that the changes of humidity, degree of decomposition and ash content of peat have an oscillatory character, which is due to re-deposition and multiple mixture of peat layers under the influence of thermokarst processes. A conclusion is made of degradation of a flat-frost mound bog peat deposits and their evolution to pool hummock ridge bog complexes.
