Abstract
The article considers the development of the person in the process of socio-genesis and social desirability as a specific social ability ensuring successful social development of the person. Social desirability is one of the manifestations of the urge towards transcendence and, at the same time, it is an ability which ensures successful transition of the person into a new social situation. An analysis of the results of theoretical and experimental studies allows characterizing the social desirability as a complex phenomenon associated with the social development of the person, with the success of his/her integration into a particular social community.
