Abstract

Formation of Al(III)-maltol complexes was studied in aqueous solutions. It was shown that an increase in pH resulted in sequential transformations of the complexes in the following order: [AlMa]2+, [AlMa2]+ and [AlMa3]. The data concerning stability constants revealed the superior stability of the electrically neutral complex (formed at pH 4-8), which is also of interest regarding its application in medicine.
