Professor, Member of the RAS Valentin A. Koptyug founded the Journal in 1993.
The promoters of the Journal are: Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Federal Research Center Boreskov Institute of Catalysis, Institute of Solid State Chemistry and Mechanochemistry SB RAS, N. N. Vorozhtsov Novosibirsk Institute of Organic Chemistry SB RAS, Federal Research Center of Coal and Coal Chemistry SB RAS.
The Journal publishes original articles, short communications, reviews, letters to the editor as well as articles in the sections "Free Rostrum" and "Page of a Young Scientist" on chemistry of processes representing the basis on fundamentally new technologies being created to satisfy the principles of sustainable development or to improve existing technologies for protection of the environment, economy of resources and energy saving.
The CSD Journal deals with the following topics:
* energy and resource saving chemical processes and technologies;
* chemistry of fossil and renewable raw materials, physico-chemical methods of their processing;
* chemistry of natural and biologically active compounds, physico-chemical methods of their processing;
* green chemistry;
*chemical methods of environmental protection;
* naturally occurring indicators of global environmental changes;
* environmental safety and risk assessment in chemistry and chemical industry including nanomaterials synthesis and processing;
* medical and pharmaceutical chemistry.
The journal is included in the List of leading peer-reviewed scientific journals recommended for publication by the State Commission for Academic Degrees and Titles.
The journal is indexed in the following databases: Web of Science Core Collection (Emerging Sources Citation Index), Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) on the Web of Science platform.
The Journal is published bimonthly both in English (online edition) and in Russian.
