Abstract
The effects of selective and non-selective absorption by atmospheric molecules on the characteristics of radiation scattered by atmospheric aerosol in the presence of organic compounds in the latter are analyzed. The wavelengths at which the backscattered signal exceeds the total absorption are determined.
