RAMAN SPECTRA AND STRUCTURE OF (1–x)RbNO3 + xAl2O3 SYSTEMS

Abstract

By Raman spectroscopy the structural dynamic properties of rubidium nitrate RbNO3 and its heterogeneous composites with nanosized powder of alumina Al2O3 are studied at different temperatures, phase states, and concentrations of Al2O3 nanopowder. At high concentrations (x ≥ 0.5) of the Al2O3 filler an additional component with a maximum at ν1с ~ 1049 cm–1 is detected in the Raman spectrum of the heterogeneous system. It can be assigned to NO3 vibrations located in the near-surface region of Al2O3 nanoparticles. Furthermore, at high concentrations (x ≥ 0.5) of the Al2O3 filler spectral manifestations of phase transitions of crystalline rubidium nitrate RbNO3 disappear. This indicates a radical change in the microstructure of the heterogeneous system in comparison with the homogeneous one.
