Abstract
The article investigates the technique of distinguishing the competencies of the higher education teacher. It describes the results of a study, based on which a model of competencies of the teachers of higher education has been created. The factor analysis by large factors has been used to create the model. There have been obtained five key competencies. A method has been developed for determining an integral index of effectiveness of the higher education teacher based on the calculation of individual competencies and their components with some weights for the blocks. In the future this model can become a tool to assess the professionalism of the teaching staff.
