Abstract
The problem of perennial dynamics of the number of rodents is under investigation for more than a century. Its stalemate state is proposed to be accepted. In our opinion, the crisis originates from the attempts of the majority of researchers to reveal the facts of mortality leading to the failure of a population instead of revealing augmentation of population as a result of reproduction. The phenomenology of the dependence of the cyclic phase on the intensity of population reproduction is concealed.
