Experimental observation of a swirling flow with a double precessing vortex

Abstract >>
This paper describes a new phenomenon of generating a stable double precessing vortex in a highly swirling turbulent flow. It also identifies the range of flow conditions providing the clearest observation of this effect. It also identifies key features of the internal flow structure and the kinematic scheme of the double vortex precessional motion. The geometric parameters of the helical vortex are measured depending on the flow regime. The obtained results are important not only from a practical standpoint for the possibilities of controlling the flow structure in industrial apparatuses, but also from the standpoint of fundamental problems in vortex dynamics. Precession of a helical structure represents a canonical case of self-induced motion of a vortex filament with a helical axis of rotation.

Global analysis of stability of isothermal swirling flow in a model combustion chamber

Abstract >>
This paper presents the analysis of linear stability of a swirling flow in a model combustion chamber. The flow is characterized by a strongly coherent component corresponding to vortex core precession. Using averaged data obtained via the large eddy simulation, a global stability analysis was performed taking into account turbulent viscosity. A mode with a dimensionless frequency of 0.76 was identified in the eigenvalue spectrum. The eigenfunction distributions indicate that this mode corresponds to a precessing vortex core (PVC). The study confirms that the PVC is a global unstable mode developing in a mean turbulent flow and will serve as a basis for further work on the development of PVC control strategies.

Study of cavitation bubble motion inside a supercavitation cavity

The supercavitation cavities were studied in a slot channel with a wing-shaped body inside. The wing attack angle was 21°. The dynamics of tracing flat cavitation bubbles were studied using a high-speed camera. The methods of algorithmic diagnostics of two-phase flow were used to detect the size of bubbles, their velocity, direction of movement and spatial distribution. It is shown that there are three types of supercavitation cavities arising in slot channels: a transparent pulsating cavitation cavity with periodic vortex formation at the site of its closure; steam and a steam-water mixture coexisting inside the cavity; a cavity completely filled with liquid with tracing steam-gas bubbles inside. It is determined that the bubbles move into the supercavitation cavity from its boundaries to the center; further they move to the front of the cavity and merge with it. The maximum velocity of bubbles is half the velocity of the oncoming flow.

Development of a separation vortex for a supersonic flow around a dihedral model for attack angle within the range α = 0 - 24°

The emergence and development of a vortex system during the separation of a supersonic air flow on the rib of a dihedral model with face opening angle of 270° was studied in details. The appearance of a separation vortex above the lateral face was detected for a flow with an angle of attack α = 1º. For a case with α ∽ 2º, boundary layer separation occurs near the rib of angle-shaped configuration. With an increase in pressure drop between the top and lateral faces of the model, the separation flow size grows and at an angle α = 3.7º a new vortex form is observed (a secondary vortex). For a flow with an angle of attack α = 8º, a third vortex is clearly observed. This vortex is located above the secondary vortex and it has a minor influence on the pressure distribution and the limiting streamlines behavior on the lateral face. The flow at this angle of attack α results in repeated separations for thin boundary layers near the configuration rib and beneath the enlarged secondary vortex. Within the tested interval of the attack angle α = 8º - 24º , the sizes of those local separations remain almost the same. It was shown that analysis of limiting streamlines patterns and surface pressure distribution cannot fully elucidate the actual structure of complex vertical systems without gaining some additional data.

Theoretical models of aerothermochemical interaction between a flow surface and dissociated air are presented for the case of combustion and sublimation near the forward stagnation point of a blunt body. Research methods and results are generalized to obtain a solution based on the similarity method for the case of combustion and sublimation using graphite in arbitrary cross-sections of a cone, sphere, wedge, cylinder, plate, and spherically blunt cone under laminar flow conditions with high Reynolds numbers. For various geometric shapes in a wide range of hypersonic flow conditions, calculations of the mass flux, heat flux, and friction drag coefficient are presented, the results of which are linked by universal dependencies expressed in terms of the stagnation enthalpy, pressure, velocity gradient, pressure gradient parameter, and surface temperature.

Thermal conductivity of magnesium-lithium alloys with a body-centered cubic crystal lattice in the temperature range of 80 - 350 K

Thermal conductivity of solid magnesium-lithium alloys with XLi = 35, 40, 50 at. % in the temperature range of 80 - 350 K was measured by a transient method using a plane heat source. The obtained results were compared with literature data for alloys of other compositions. For all the studied alloys, anomalous behavior in the form of a kink in the range of 310 - 330 K and a feature near 240 K, presumably associated with a martensitic transformation, was found on temperature dependences λ(T). Using literature data, concentration dependences of thermal conductivity of the Mg-Li system were plotted in the range XLi = 0 - 50 at. %. It is shown that an increase in the lithium content in the range of 30 - 50 at. % leads to a further decrease in thermal conductivity.

Acoustic Emission from Fracturing of Rock Samples under Quasistatic Effects

Experimental fracturing is carried out in rock samples of different strength, taken in the same borehole but at different depths. From the analysis of acoustic emission from fracturing of the rock samples under quasistatic loading, the spectral composition of acoustic emission signals is determined in the samples in elastic, plastic and soft straining before failure. Microcracks initiated in early loading generate high-frequency signals. As loading is increased, the spectrum expands toward lower frequencies with opening of existing cracks and initiation of new cracks. The values of the energy release intensity during acoustic emission in samples under quasistatic loading up to failure are given. The introduction of the specific energy release coefficient of acoustic emission in fracturing of the test samples enables ranking the samples by their mechanical properties. The thermal fields mapped on one of the test samples under varied quasistatic loading allow judging on the behavior of the internal stresses in the sample.

Using the input impedance method, the basic characteristics of electromagnetic wave reflection in multilayered media are theoretically calculated. Numerical modeling and physical simulation helped estimate amplitudes of GPR waves reflected from layers in a multilayered medium, and the reflection coefficients were determined for every layer of different thickness.

The hydrogeological and geochemical situation in underground mining at the Tyubegatan potash deposit, Uzbekistan is analyzed. It is shown that an emergency water ingress in a mine stope has a direct hydrodynamic connection with aquifers in overlying strata above salt strata and with ground surface. Water ingress is a brine resulting from permeation of rainfalls in overburden along vertical cracks connected with a fault developed along the mine mainways. The change in the hydrogeological regime within a local emergency zone and the induced activation of salt karst are discussed.

Stress-Strain Analysis of Rock Mass-Support System in Complex Geomechanical Conditions of the Almaz-Zhemchuzhina Deposit of Chromite Ore

The article describes in-situ geomechanical observations over deformation in the rock mass-support system in the conditions of the post-limit stress-strain behavior of rock mass at the Almaz-Zhemchuzhina deposit of chromite ore (stability categories IV-V). The methodology framework was monitoring of convergence of stope walls using a band extensometer at 27 deformation stations set both inside and outside influence zones of stoping. Two modes of deformation were identified: background deformations (rate to 1.37 mm/month) and induced deformations with the increased rate of convergence to 72 mm/month (2.4 mm/day). It is found that the extracted ore volume and the displacement velocities are interrelated. An increase in the monthly average volume of ore drawing from 40 to 80 Kt increases the average rate of convergence by 30% (from 0.65 to 0.92 mm/day). The critical deformations are recorded, leading to failure of shotcrete lining, which governs transition to the predictive-preventive stability control in mine stopes.

Impact of Blasting in Neighborhood of Roadways and Stopes in Rockburst-Hazardous Conditions in the Altai-Sayan Mountainous Region

The geology and geomechanics of the Altai-Sayan Mountainous Region are studied. Deep faults are identified, displacements along which activate seismicity in neighborhood of the rock-burst hazardous Tashtagol and Sheregesh deposits. The influence of large-scale mining operations on the intensity of geodynamic phenomena at great depths is studied. The patterns of earthquakes in the vicinity of the test deposits are examined. The energy classes of blasts (2.5-8.0) and geodynamic phenomena (2.0-6.5), as well as their magnitudes (1.5-2.9) are determined. The scope of the study embraced the influence of blasting on the formation of zones of rock disintegration (I), induced jointing (II) and micro-jointing (III). It is found that the maximal sizes of zones I-III during heading operations are, respectively, 0.48, 1.68 and 4.44 m; these values in blasting using grammonite M21 and an emulsion explosion are, respectively, 2.19 (1.9), 3.84 (3.33) and 15.34 (13.64) m. Using the microseismicity method, the location of the nearest concentration zones of shocks with a seismic energy of 2·102-107 J in the mine field during blasting in roadways and stopes at a distance of 3.33-15.34 m is determined.

Seasonal Blasting-Induced Seismic Impact on Guarded Objects

Blasting-induced seismic impact on guarded objects is discussed as a case-study of the Novosmolinsky deposit of granodiorites. Efficiency of seismic safety designs is validated, the actual ground conditions coefficients and ground-motion attenuations are determined with regard to seasonal variations. Based on the ground motion monitoring at guarded objects, the regressional relationships are found between the PPV values and the reduced distances, which enables prediction of levels of blast-induced impacts. The influence of seasonal fluctuations is determined: the ground condition coefficient and seismic attenuation factor increase under negative temperatures, which requires adjustment of mass of explosive charges and distances to guarded objects in the winter period. The formulas are proposed for the calculation of seismically safe parameters of blasting designs with regard to soil temperatures. The results prove the relationship proposed by Academician M. A. Sadovsky, and expand its application range with regard to seasonal factors. The obtained equations improve accuracy of the blasting-induced seismic impact prediction, which allows well-founded adjustment of blasting design parameters and risk minimization at guarded objects nearby.

Slope Stability under Seismic Impacts

This article offers an integrated review of an issue of natural and induced landslide initiation by seismic vibrations created by earthquakes and mine blasting toward systematization of present-day research methods of this phenomenon, including numerical, physical and laboratory modeling. The structure of marine landslides is described, and the mechanics of landsliding under the action of seismic waves and the static stability of sea slopes are disclosed. The approaches to estimation of dynamic stability of landslides, as well as the Newmark method and its modifications are described. It is found that under earthquake-induced vibrations, the critical level of accelerations for a sea slope may reach ~ 0.15 g , which is 2 times lower than for a terrain slope. The stability estimate of sea slopes should take into account the pore pressure. An increase of a pore pressure coefficient from 0.1 to 0.4 decreases the safety factor by up to 50%. The published data on in-situ observations over slope failures under the impact of earthquakes and production blasts are discussed. The impact of multiple seismic effects of earthquakes and mine blasting on slopes of hydraulic engineering structures is described.

The technology enables minimizing reduction of permeability and increasing rock strength, which enhances rock treatment efficiency.

In the design of reciprocating electromagnetic drives, the correctly selected number of turns of windings defines the required supply voltage. Using simplified mathematical models, the correlation is theoretically determined between the design factors of an electromagnetic impact drive (number of loops and wire section of winding) and the in-process dynamics (currents, coil voltage, impact energy and frequency). The analytical expressions to correlate the listed parameters are derived. Their variability is analyzed, and the recommendations to select the number of loops of windings are made. The calculation-based findings are confirmed in dynamic testing of model electromagnetic impact drives.

For many decades, most of draglines in overburden removal in open pit coal mining used analog control under Ward Leonard method. The conventional analog control is therefore digitalized to improve efficiency, reduce the power consumption and provide low-maintenance operation instead of completely replacing the dragline. Even though digitally retrofitted Ward Leonard gives more efficiency compared with analog control, there is no major change in maintenance cost or breakdown cost. This paper proposes implementing the Active Front End rectifier with DC chopper control in old analog Ward Leonard control dragline in place of digitally retrofitted Ward Leonard control. The proposed control technique is analyzed as a case study for a digitally retrofitted dragline in Indian coal mine, and a comparative study is done with the proposed system in terms of technical and economic aspects.

The current situation in copper smelting slag processing is discussed. The common method of slag processing by flotation produces secondary waste. The authors describe flotation of converter slag of the Balkhash Copper Smelter, with high mass fractions of copper, zinc, lead, iron and silver. In flotation with fractional froth removing, the times of intercycle, rougher and recleaner operations, consumptions of agents, as well as stages of milling and flotation were determined. The introduction of ammonium sulfate in slag milling improved the copper concentrate quality by means of the increase in the copper content in the concentrate from 29.54 to 37.32%. The developed flowchart produced a copper concentrate with the copper mass fraction of 32.4.8% and silver content of 204.74 g/t, and tailings with the copper mass fraction of 0.65%. It is found that tailings of the copper smelting slag processing can be used as a silicic component in manufacture of foam high-pressure steam cured concrete, which can reduce secondary waste and substantially elevate the resource value of copper smelting slag and its utilization prospects.

The mineral and chemical analyses of gold ore from one of the largest deposits in Transbaikalia are described. The main valuable component of the test oxidized gold ore type is nonuniform and coarse native gold. The uniformity of size distribution of gold in initial ore is studied. The gold ore dressability was tested using the methods of gravity separation, flotation and hydrometallurgical treatment. From the experimental results, the conclusion is drawn on the expedient applicability of an integrated technology of gold ore processing. The proposed technology of gold ore processing integrates jigging of milled ore, classification, rough-scavenging-recleaner flotation cycles with the subsequent leaching of flotation concentrate and gravity separation concentrate using a thiocyanate-based agent. Gold recovery in the proposed technology totals 96.3%, which is comparable with the recovery efficiency reached in gold cyanidation (97.5%).

This article overviews the methods of interpretation of machine learning used in image segmentation of opencast mining areas. The model checkup used the information on mining-disturbed land in the Novosibirsk Region and in some districts of Yakutia. Examples of the formation and time history of such land outlines are given. The scope of the analysis embraces various approaches to interpretation of computer vision modeling, including Grad-VAM, Saliency Maps, Feature Maps, Occlusion Sensitivity, Integrated Gradients and Counterfactual Explanations. The studies demonstrate advantages and disadvantages of each method, and imply that an increase in the number of learning iterations not always brings improvement in the model quality. The authors advise on selecting initial data interpretation techniques with regard to peculiarities of an observation target when solving certain geotechnical or geoecological problems.

Assessment of Local Productivity in Hydrocarbon Reservoirs by Recording Seismic Background Noise: Statistical Straggling and Reliability Improvement

The author resolves the problem connected with reliability improvement of full-scale investigation data by the method of remote productivity assessment in a hydrocarbon reservoir using records of seismic background noise on ground surface. The complication is a high-amplitude broadband interference covering half a service band. On the basis of a polyspectrum analysis, a remote oil content assessment, different from the earlier proposed method, is proposed. The procedures of statistical straggling and averaging in multi-point recording are discussed. A good agreement of the results of two independent methods increases reliability of total thickness estimates in productive intervals under a recording point. This elevates robustness of oil and gas exploration and facilitates selection of promising drilling sites. In a general case, it is possible to use half-sums of estimates of the two methods. In the areas without wells drilled, productivity maps are calculated in arbitrary units; when the thickness of productive intervals is measured in a number of wells, using a coefficient of linear regression facilitates transition from arbitrary units to units of length.

Ecological Assessment of Mining Areas at the Karabash Copper-Pyrite Ore Deposit Using Spectral Indices

Abstract >>
The article studies ecological observations over disturbed land in the Karabash copper ore province in the north of the South Ural using archival Landsat images taken in the period from 1989 to 2024. For the efficient evaluation of the environmental components within the limits of the Sak-Elga river watershed (basin of the Miass river), the spectral indices were used: NDVI for vegetation mantle; Fe-indices for manmade soil; AMWI for water bodies. The variation in NDVI revealed a general trend of recovery of vegetation cover in the area of 8.5 km2, including reclamation sites of tailings storages. In the plain flood area of the Sak-Elga river and on the west shoulder of the Gold Mountain, some large areas with traces of pollution with sulfide-bearing waste still remain. Some prospective minerals pointed at by the spectral indices in the polluted areas are identified. The total area of contamination because of sulfide weathering presumably reduced from 10.8 to 7.5 km2. The highest water pollution indexes by AMWI were revealed in the Karabash pond (0.08 in 1989 and 0.75 in 2024), Olkhovka pond (0.67 in 1989 and 0.34 in 2024) and in a hydrobotanical pond (0.24 in 2020 and 0.61 in 2024).

The subject-matter of investigation is the nontrivial modal-logic problem of equivalence of de-dicto and de-re types of modalities. The target - explicating, exact formulating and adding the precisely formulated principle of equivalence of the modality-types as a new proper philosophy axiom scheme to the multimodal axiomatic system of formal philosophy Φ+∃. The scientific novelty : for realizing the target, the already published formal axiomatic theory Φ+∃ has been transformed into a qualitatively different logically formalized multimodal axiomatic system called ΦDR due to manifest taking into an account and systematical dealing with the different modality types called de-dicto and de-re. For accomplishing the transformation, (1) definitions of the alphabets of artificial object-language and meta-language of Φ+∃ have been changed: new symbols ΩD and ΩR standing for perfection-modalities (belonging to the types D and R, respectively) have been included into the alphabet of metalanguage of ФDR; (2) in ΦDR, one new axiom-scheme (containing the new symbols ΩD and ΩR) has been added to the set of axiom-schemes of Φ+∃; (3) by means of the artificial language of ΦDR, a precise formulation of the principle of equivalence of the modality-types de-dicto and de-re is given, and the concrete epistemic condition, under which the equivalence principle is valid, is defined. For the first time, a nontrivial multimodal interpretation is given for the traditional formal logic square of opposition and hexagon. Also, for the first time, these geometric figures have been utilized for visual modeling a system of formal-axiological relations among qualitatively different de-re - perfection-modalities as evaluation-functions.

This paper examines the problem of semantics of intensional contexts from a special perspective related to the principles of operation of generative artificial intelligence (AI). Intensional contexts such as beliefs, desires, knowledge and convictions pose a particular challenge for modern language models, since they require taking into account the meanings of expressions in logical possible worlds or cognitive states of subjects. This paper is a kind of sketch for the formulation of a problem that has an engineering and philosophical dimension. Here, we analyze the mechanisms of operation of transformers that use contextual embeddings to model the meanings of words through self-attention. It was revealed that modern language models are able to effectively process anaphoric dependencies and contextual connections, but they face limitations when interpreting intensional constructions. Particular attention is paid to experiments with vector representations of objects in multidimensional space, during which difficulties arise when distinguishing between subjective beliefs and objective reality. The nature of the difficulties indicates that working with intensional contexts requires not only a simple analysis of probabilistic connections between words, but also a deeper understanding of the semantics of linguistic expressions.

We illustrate the functions of the concept of dispute in the formal theory of argumentation with the help of two well-known examples from the theory of argumentation: the example of Harry from Bermuda, used by S. Toulmin, and the example of Tweety the penguin, who does not fly, although it is a bird, used in non-monotonic logic. Reconstruction of these examples allows us to show the importance of the concept of dispute in the logic of argumentation for developing ways to solve the task of finding and selecting the strongest arguments with which the outcomes of argumentation between the parties can be identified. The solution of this task is a unification of the efforts of two leading areas of modern formal theory of argumentation - the argumentation logic and the dialectical theory of argumentation.

We show that the description of the primary apperception in the Critique of Pure Reason (2nd edition) - which is necessary for any synthesis by an act of judgement - contains a contradiction. According to Kant, in order to synthesise by an act of judgement a single representation from the elements of a given in intuition manifold, it is necessary to recognise the representations which are contained in this manifold as my own representations. In order to do this, it is necessary to carry out the synthesis of a certain representation. This synthesis, according to Kant, requires no further syntheses. But the latter synthesis requires a new synthesis. Therefore, a synthesis that does not have other syntheses as a prerequisite for its realisation is impossible. The argument makes use of the semantic analysis of representations (Vorstellungen) that are synthesised by judgments, so that in the present paper we intend to show a change in the understanding of Kant in the light of the “semantic turn”.

This paper offers a critical analysis of the commensurability between two foundational questions in the philosophy of artificial intelligence: “Can a machine think?” and “Can a machine win the imitation game?” It is argued that, despite Alan Turing’s pragmatic substitution proposed in 1950, these questions differ in ontological status and conceptual framework. Drawing on the works of D. Dennett, J. Searle, D. Chalmers, and others, the paper demonstrates that commensurability is possible only in an epistemologically limited, inductive sense-but not in a logical or ontological one. The study emphasizes the necessity of distinguishing behavioral simulation from genuine thinking, thereby avoiding the category mistake often associated with interpreting the Turing Test as proof of machine consciousness.

In the first part of the article, I showed that an interfering factor for the development of science and philosophy of science is the lack of consensus in the philosophical community about the philosophical status of the methodology of science, and, as a consequence, inadequate attention to research in this discipline. I have considered two well-known sets of arguments against the methodology of science. The first group is based on the recognition by the philosophical community of the relativistic nature of physical knowledge after the discoveries of the theory of relativity and quantum physics. The second group of arguments is based on the attitude of the classics of the philosophy of science towards science. Thus, P. Feyerabend denied the universal nature of scientific methods, and T. Kuhn often denied the objective development of science. I have formulated the following counterarguments. First, despite a certain relativism in contemporary science, philosophers’ аbstrаction from scientific achievements leads to a decline in the quality of research in the philosophy of science. Secondly, in his autobiography, Feyerabend acknowledged the ironic nature of his famous argument for scientific relativism. In the second part of the article, I described certain prospects for the participation of philosophers with knowledge of specialized sciences in scientific activity, mainly as critics of the imperfections of science and the incorrect use of philosophical ideas by scientists. However, there are certain prospects for the participation of the philosophical community in projects of a non-critical nature, for example, the construction of new criteria of explanation and understanding for the natural sciences and formal disciplines.

The paper aims to show that the example given by J. Fantle and M. McGrath (2002) (pragmatic considerations regarding the risk of attributing the desired epistemic status to a given belief in a given situation affects the very concept of «epistemic fact» and, as a consequence, we must abandon evidentialism as the idea that necessary and sufficient conditions of justification are determined exclusively by available epistemic data) does not achieve its goal. The idea of B. Weatherson’s example (2005) is to show that J. Fantle and M. McGrath do not distinguish between «the degree of confidence in the truth of a proposition» (pragmatic conditions on justification) and «the degree of confidence in a belief» (pragmatic conditions on belief). We want to use the logic of an adequate epistemic basing relation, i.e. «meta-beliefs that explain why these reasons are precisely the reasons by virtue of which the belief is held» (G. Harman, K. Korcz, etc.), connecting the corresponding belief and its reasons. B. Weatherson points out on only one possible option for assessing the basing relation - through the «analogy with lotteries», - but in a more general case, the logic of looking for an adequate epistemic basing relation allows us to more thorougthfully indicate that we can justify the «practical nature of reasoning» without resorting to assumptions that already suggest that we are obliged to interpret justification in terms of «pragmatic encroachment».

THE MEASUREMENT PROBLEM IN QUANTUM MECHANICS FROM A THERMODINAMIC POINVIEW

This article explores the problem of measurement in quantum mechanics, closely related to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and philosophical debates about the ontological or epistemological nature of quantum uncertainty. The author traces the evolution of views on this problem-from Einstein's concept of hidden variables to modern interpretations that view measurement as a violation of the closed nature of a quantum system and a process of obtaining information. The goal of the study is to connect modern interpretations of the observation problem with Max Planck's understanding of fundamental thermodynamic quantities (in particular, entropy) and compare it with the modern information approach to the problem of quantum measurements, which is based on Shannon's concept of entropy.The paper presents the meaning of the Heisenberg uncertainty principle and its interpretations (the ontological interpretation of Bohr and Heisenberg, and the epistemological interpretation of Einstein). The connection between the thermodynamic interpretation of the measurement process (based on the ideas of M. Planck) and information theory (K. Shannon's approach) is demonstrated. A comparative analysis of the concepts of entropy in Planck and Shannon is provided: their physical and informational interpretations, areas of application, and semantic emphases. Specific examples illustrating the change in a system's entropy upon the removal of a particle (an ideal gas, a crystal at a temperature close to absolute zero, a system with bound states) are considered.The main conclusions of the article are that entropy in thermodynamics (Planck) and information theory (Shannon) have a common statistical nature, but differ in context and the direction of "uncertainty": for Planck, it is a property of the system for the observer, while for Shannon, it is a property of the source for the receiver. The comparison of the thermodynamic and information approaches opens up prospects for a new understanding of the problem of measurements in quantum mechanics through the prism of information theory. The significance of this work lies in its interdisciplinary synthesis of ideas from thermodynamics, quantum mechanics, and information theory, which allows for a deeper understanding of the nature of quantum uncertainty and the measurement process as an information exchange.

The paper analyzes the problem of interdisciplinarity on the example of T. Fuchs’ neurophenomenology. The author reconstructs the history of the dialogue the philosophy and psychiatry as the history of antinomianism of scientific approaches, reveals the foundations of enactivism as the basis for the cessation of antinomianism in the philosophy of psychiatry, discovers two waves of enactivism in psychiatry. Enactivist attitudes of modern neurophenomenology are clarified. The significance of neurophenomenology for discussions on the “hard problem of consciousness” is shown. The paper includes the consistent analysis of the project of Thomas Fuchs’ neurophenomenology and its serious attitudes: criticism of neurobiologism, reductionism and representationism. The structure of neurophenomenology is reconstructed and the central problem of embodiment is posed. The paper discusses the main pathological transformations of consciousness as a field of intentionality: changes in corporeality, temporality and social relations. It is shown that Fuchs’ ideas on relational psychiatry and polydisciplinarity is especially productive. The author studies the interaction of neurobiology and philosophy, psychotherapy in their analysis and the correction of mental illnesses. The productivity of Fuchs’ model for international specialists and the possibilities of its development in the Russian tradition of neuropsychology and psychotherapy is emphasized.

«HUMAN IN THE LOOP» AND THE LIMITS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE’S RATIONALITY

The article examines the philosophical foundations and limits of artificial intelligence rationality within the context of decision-making. The author analyzes the distinction between epistemic and practical rationality, emphasizing the latter as the fundamental basis for rational agent functioning. Central to the discussion is the concept of bounded rationality, according to which decision-making occurs under conditions of incomplete information, cognitive constraints, and limited computational resources. The article argues that ideal rationality is unattainable, making bounded rationality the most appropriate model for artificial intelligence. Four types of rationality are explored: ideal, computational, bounded rationality, and bounded optimality. The study concludes that bounded rationality is practically most applicable in developing intelligent systems. Furthermore, it highlights the necessity of considering these limitations when designing adaptive algorithms and underscores the significance of human involvement in the decision-making process to enhance reliability. The «human-in-the-loop» model is interpreted not merely as a technical mode of interaction, but as an embodiment of situational rationality, taking into account context, moral implications, and the uniqueness of each specific situation. Human participation adds a value-based and interpretative dimension to algorithmic reasoning, restoring the connection between rationality and phronesis. Given that algorithms are limited by resources and prone to errors, it is precisely the human who is capable of identifying contextual nuances and providing meaningful corrections. Thus, human inclusion in the loop emerges as a critical factor in enhancing the reliability of artificial intelligence-driven decisions.

The article examines the metaphysical foundations of naturalism in relation to consciousness. Naturalism is the most natural and widespread, but not devoid of contradictions, philosophical position. Its weak points are the assertion of the priority of scientific knowledge, while the criteria of scientificity often turn out to be vague; the proclamation of reduction as the main principle, adherence to which can deprive the subject of study of its specificity; denial of the significance of ontological foundations in solving epistemological issues. Naturalism in relation to consciousness, in turn, is faced with the need to assert the ontological status of consciousness: it is a separate ontological entity and then all laws known to science must apply to it, or it is not a separate ontological entity and must be considered as a property of the brain or something similar. Non-reductive naturalism regarding consciousness appears as an internally contradictory philosophical position: by refusing to reduce consciousness to the brain in an attempt to defend the uniqueness of the qualitative qualities of mental states, we thereby violate one of the main postulates of naturalism. It turns out that the ontological status of consciousness cannot be ignored when considering consciousness as a special phenomenon; any of our theories of consciousness directly depend on the definition of this status.

The annual, or semi-annual, monitoring of the growth index of active citations, according to the author, is intended to stimulate scientists to further publication activities.
