Abstract
The paper deals with ethnocultural characteristics of belts as one of the most important elements of traditional garments worn by different groups of Russian population in Siberia: old settlers, Cossacks, Old Believers. Based on analysis of manufacturing techniques, ornamentation and ceremonial functions the authors trace the common and specific characteristics of the belts which belonged to different groups of Russian population in Siberia; they also offer their own reconstruction of origins of this element of culture.
