Abstract

The effect of operation of a frequency converter based on an electro-optical Mach-Zehnder type modulator on the frequency spectrum of the output signal in the down-conversion mode has been studied. It is shown that the modulator does not introduce significant changes in the distribution of the power spectral density of the converted signal, including phase noise, compared to the signal at the input of the modulator.
