Abstract
The article considers main indicators of scope and efficiency of activity of the world hotel industry, published in official and unofficial reports and studies: volume of the world hotel market, service level, room occupancy rate, some others. Data is classified by countries, cities, leading world hotel chains. The represented statistics shows the state of modern world hotel industry (growth rates of hotel industry, its sustainable position put the industry into one of the leading places in the world economy) and makes it possible to elaborate strategic directions of development of this sphere.
