Abstract
Industrial symbiosis is a voluntary cooperation of enterprises that aims to reduce manufacturing costs by leveraging each other's wastes or by-products as raw materials and sharing resources: information, energy, water, etc. This paper investigates the spontaneous industrial networks based on the principles of industrial symbiosis in Denmark, Russia and Slovakia, which are currently on different stages of development. The identified cases contribute to the sustainable development of regions where they are localized.
