																					 Abstract 
								The article draws attention to the expediency of the governmental steps in the change of children, young people and their parents' attitude towards a book and reading. The author considers the role of a book and reading in the development of personality. The ways of the British schoolchildren reader development and the role of the British government in their integration are analyzed. A review of the key projects carried out by the government and social institutions of the United Kingdom for the formation of a wider reading community and the increase of the reading and a book status in the society is given.
