Abstract
The article is devoted to the competence approach as a stage of renewal of the content of education which was introduced into the scientific research in connection with the search for the ways of modernization of Russian education. The socio-philosophical aspects of this approach are considered here. Theoretical, historical and pedagogical preconditions of the competence approach are revealed. The set of main notions of the competence approach is outlined. The necessity of formation of the key competences at all stages of the process of education and in all the school subjects, including geometry in the secondary school, is revealed. The presence of these competences is necessary not only for the students for successful study but for the adults in their productive professional activity during the entire life, for self-realization, for forming interrelations between people.
