Abstract
The modern spiritual life of Russia is characterized by critical reconsidering of the values which had been established in the previous years. The processes that are taking place in education significantly influence the spiritual renewal of the society (and vice versa); as a result, the status of education as a social institution is growing and its influence over the spiritual life of the society is increasing. The problem of education in the modern conditions is not just training of an educated specialist but creation of a person who is spiritual, humane, and ecologically oriented.
