Abstract
The author analyzes the genetic nature of the typologies of legal understanding. He considers the problem situation and its crisis aspects in the Russian legal science concerning the conceptual grounds and methodology of the legal theory, classification and criteria of legal understanding. The author offers the genetic approach to legal understanding introduced to analyze the internal logic of self-determination of the legal phenomena, its system features and to distinguish three levels of law: genetic, descriptive and system-content.
