The author substantiates the concept of professional-psychological characteristics of the teacher which are determined by the formation of modern polycultural educational space of Russia. The data of the carried out empirical research show the existence of distinctions in the manifestation degrees of the professional-psychological characteristics of the teachers working in the polycultural and single-cultural environments environments. The development of the cultural and ethnical manifoldness of the Russian society has influenced the formation of a polycultural educational space which is the most important factor of the professional and personal development of the pedagogues. At that, the pedagogues working in the polycultural educational space have higher levels of persistence, adaptability, collectivism, gender tolerance, inter-confessional tolerance and adherence to traditional culture.
