In the article, there is considered the problem of self-development and self-actualization of the person, one of the priority problems of modern philosophy, pedagogy and psychology. There is describes the contents and the particularities of creative self-development of the higher education teacher as one of the most important components of his/her professional activity. There are determined the conditions, stages, and technologies of formation of the professionally oriented creative self-development of the higher education pedagogue. There are presented the results of preliminary research on the readiness of the higher education teacher for the innovative activity, which presupposes the presence of a high level of development of creative abilities.
