Abstract
In the article, contemplation as a philosophical category is considered: the place of contemplation in the structure of life and knowledge is shown, the levels of contemplation are determined. The humanistic potential is defined through the importance of contemplation for finding integrity of the person and оvercoming alienation. A conclusion is made about the necessity of inclusion of contemplation as a method of cognition in the process of education.
