The purpose of the article is to analyze the problems of socio-cultural adaptations of foreign students in a different ethnical environment. The education system is considered here as an environment and a resource of support of the processes of socio-cultural adaptations. There are described the barriers revealed during the research on the social-cultural adaptation (on the example of foreign students of the Novosibirsk State Technical University). There is analyzed a formed contradiction in understanding of the process of support of the socio-cultural adaptation of foreign students as an administrative resource or as a simple adjustment of interpersonal relations.
