Abstract
The author of the article draws attention to the problem of formation of the specialist's foreign language communicative competence; indicates the opportunity and conditions of its formation within the framework of the University education. The author suggests making a special accent on comparison of many different conceptual systems in the context of global and national cultures. It will lead to comprehension by the student of his/her own uniqueness as a cultural-historical subject. The author gives her own definition of competence as an integrated, universal quality of the person, its readiness for any situations in life and situations of professional interaction in the field of foreign language communication.
