Abstract
The purpose of the study is to show how the definitions of the concepts of «innovation» and «culture» influence the civilization development vector. There are many definitions of these concepts. Two directions of the civilization development are identified in the article: the market-economical and the cultural-ecological ones. Various approaches to the definition of the concepts of «innovation» and «culture» within these two directions are analyzed. Through this analysis, it is shown how the Western civilization, developing on the market-economical basis, slides to destruction, and how the representatives of the cultural-ecological direction try to stop this slide.
