Abstract
The author analyzes the system of technical training as the foundation of the cadets professional development, considers some issues concerning the technical training of the cadets of the Russian military institutions of higher education in the period of army reform and new principles of the military specialists recruitment for the Armed Forces (recruitment on the contract basis). The author analyzes the criteria of readiness to further professional activity of the graduates of the higher command military schools (military institutes), future commanding officers, organizers, and managers.
