Abstract

An analysis of formation of water quality in a large natural-man-caused system has been carried out on the example of the change of hydrologic-hydrochemical regime of the Novosibirsk reservoir and its tail race. The character of long-term and seasonal time course of inflow and discharges, dependence of the water exchange coefficient on the water impounding of separate seasons and of the year as a whole, time course of priority chemical characteristics of water quality across the reservoir equator have been studied. It is demonstrated that the Novosibirsk reservoir, despite its small regulation capacity, has considerably improved the water resource situation in its influence zone, especially in its head race, and plays a positive role in determining the quality of water.
