Abstract
New sources on the history of Siberia in the XIX century - The Diary by V.D. Philosophov and letters of N.M. Golitsyn - are introduced into the scientific circulation. Both authors took part in the inspection of Eastern Siberia conducted by the senator I.N. Tolstoy in 1843-1845. The everyday life and business activities of the newly arrived officials, their attitudes to Siberian merchants and bureaucrats are shown.
