Abstract
The paper is devoted to the deportation of Armenian population from the southern regions of the Soviet Union to the Altai territory in 1949. For the first time in historiography the author clarifies the numbers of this particular category of forced migrants, as well as the structure of their settlement and local authorities' activities providing adaptation and distribution of the migrants within the region. The paper is written on the basis of new data from the declassified documents kept in the State Archives of the Altai Region.
