Abstract >>
Based on the available geological and geophysical data, we propose a model for the formation of the modern structure of the zone of junction of the Siberian Platform and West Siberian Plate. This area evolved in five stages. At the first, Early-Middle Riphean, stage, a volcanosedimentary complex formed on the continental crust of the Siberian Platform and on the Kas microcontinent, separated from the North Asian craton in the early Riphean, between which there was a basin with oceanic crust. The second stage (about 850 Ma BP) involved collision of the Kas microcontinent, which resulted in obduction of the oceanic formations on the edge of the Siberian Platform, their crumpling and metamorphism. At the third stage (from Baikalian to Late Carboniferous), a terrigenous-carbonate-evaporite plate complex formed throughout the study territory. The fourth stage (Late Carboniferous-Early Triassic) was related to the closure of the Paleoasian ocean and collision processes on the western margin of the Kas massif. At the final (Meso-Cenozoic) stage, a plate complex formed on the left bank of the Yenisei River, and uplifting of the Yenisei Range and adjacent areas of the Siberian Platform occurred.
