Abstract
The history of aviation origin is briefly reviewed. Capabilities, advantages, and drawbacks of various flying vehicles are analyzed. Ways for aircraft development and improvement are suggested. Decision-making criteria in civil aircraft design are evaluated. Improvement of aircraft performance, reduced ecological hazards, and increased flight safety are identified as the main goals determining the progress of today
