The microbiomass formation at the initial stages of soil formation

The monograph summarizes the results of long-term authors research on the problem of microbial biomass function at the initial stages of zonal and intrazonal soils development in the boreal and subboreal belts of Eurasia. The connection of the process of microbial biomass formation at the first stages of soil formation with the processes of destruction of plant litter is shown. It is established that in the formation process of young soils, the share of the active part of soil organic matter represented by the biomass of soil microorganisms in the total fund of soil organic matter is reduced. The peculiarities of stocks formation of biomass of microorganisms and its metabolic activity are determined by specific edaphic conditions.

Oil-and-gas prospects of regional reservoirs in Pre-Patom regional trough (Siberian Platform)

This monograph for the first time presents the results of quantitative evaluation of oil-and-gas prospects of Vilyuchanskiy, Lower-Nepa, Upper-Nepa, Tira, Lower-Danilovskoe, Upper-Danilovskoe, and Usolskoe regional oil-and-gas reservoirs in Pre-Patom regional trough a large object in the Siberian Platform having a most complicated structure and highly understudied with respect to geological exploration works. The results are shown of detailed correlation for the Vendian Lower Cambrian oil-andgas deposits at the level of cyclic-structure suites. The tectonic structure and geodynamic reconstructions of Pre-Patom trough are studied. Sedimentary, .ltration-volumetric, and screening models of regional reservoirs are described, supplied with a large amount of illustrative graphics. A technique of quantitative evaluation of oil-and-gas prospects is presented and its results are shown, with maps of oiland-gas prospects constructed for each reservoir. Re.nements are proposed for the Program of geological survey and licensing hydrocarbon deposits in East Siberia and the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) until 2035 with respect to Pre-Patom trough. This monograph is the .rst large-scale scienti.c generalization regarding the structure of regional reservoirs in Pre-Patom regional trough and quantitative evaluation of their oil-and-gas potential. It will be of interest for both researchers and .eld specialists in the sphere of geology, as well as for recent graduates who study geological structure and oil-and-gas potential of the Siberian Platform.

The monograph is devoted to the research into one of the poorly studied categories of the Yukaghir language pronouns and related lexicon on the material of two preserved languages spoken by Tundra and Forest Yukaghirs. The attempt has been made to give a full and comparative analysis of the Yukaghir pronouns, their classification, semantic, morphological and syntactic features, referential properties, as well as ways of formation of the pronouns. The presented material brings a further development of the issues on pronouns in the languages of the northern indigenous peoples. The new linguistic material is introduced into academic circles. The publication focuses on specialists, teachers and all who are interested in the Yukaghir language.

The sources of low-energy, high-current electron beams with plasma anode

Firstly, in the present book, the results of investigations in the field of high-current electronics formed about 30 years ago: the physics and technique of low-energy (10-40 keV), high-current (up to 30 kA), large-area (up to 80 cm2) microsecond (0.7-5μs) electron beams (LHEBs) produced in the diodes with plasma anode are  ummarized. The methods of plasma anode formation, regularities of the excitation of explosive electron emission under plasma,  regularities of the LHEBs formation and transport through plasma channel, problems of the beam uniformity and the control of its cross-section shape are described.  The design and engineering of the LHEBs sources and the facilities on their base are presented. An essential attention is paid to the use of LHEBs sources for surface modification of materials by pulsed melting. A number of achievements in the application of LHEBs for the treatment of the parts  used in medicine, electrophysics and  industry is given. For the experts in high-current electronics, electrophysics and modification of materials with high power pulsed energy fluxes.
Alexander Alekseevich Kovalsky: a life rich in accomplishments

Kovalsky, a prominent scientist in the field of chemical kinetics and nuclear physics, lived and worked in very difficult years for our country. He is a pupil of Academician NN. Semenov, took an active part in the creation of the theory of chain reactions, paid much attention to the application of the results of chemical research in the national economy. During the Great Patriotic War he took part in the creation of fuel for the legendary "Katyusha", in the postwar years - nuclear weapons. Alexander Alekseevich was awarded three Orders of the Red Banner of Labor (1945, 1953, 1956). Since 1957 - the organizer and the first director of the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences. For the organization and successful management of the institute in 1967, he was awarded the Order of Lenin. On the main events of life and activity of A.A. Kovalsky tells us the daughter of a scientist, colleagues and friends. The book uses photographs from the archives of the AA family. Efficiency of energy plantations

The evolution of the structure and properties of light alloys AT the energy influences

Succession in grasslands

The book describes in details five types of vegetation successions studied in grassland ecosystems: revegetation after flooding of riparian meadow and steppe plant communities by a reservoir, self-revegetation of coal mining spoils, changes due to grazing, post-fire regeneration of phytocoenoses, revegetation of abandoned agricultural lands. 
The study revealed main features and regularities of different succession types. Successions under constant and unregulated human influence were found to be basically unpredictable. The first stages of primary succession on coal mining spoils experienced drastic influence of fortuitous factors, the effect of the latter decreasing with time.
Plant community succession due to grazing was found to be reversible and predictable. Constant grazing pressure resulted in range digression, whereas changes in grazing pressure triggered succession in plant community. Pyrogenic succession was determined by the frequency and strength of fire. The burned steppe underwent all stages of secondary succession. Succession on the abandoned agricultural land was found to be regular, intrinsically driven and determined. 
The authors suggest a concept about ecosystem self-arrangement in course of succession, with the biotic turnover network providing the mechanism for it. 
The book is intended for ecologists, botanists, soil scientists, specialists in bioinformatics and mathematical simulations.

The experience of forty years long development of the Senoman gas field of the Medvezhye deposit is generalized in the monograph. Mechanochemistry of natural and synthetic apatites

The monograph deals with the regularities of structural transformations, changes of physicochemical properties, and chemical interactions of isomophous modifications of natural and synthetic apatites in multicomponent phosphate-containing systems under the mechanical action in planetary mills and other powerful devices.
The monograph presents original results of systematic investigations into structural, chemical transformations by electron microscopy indentation zones in apatite and quartz single crystals as a model of grinding and mechanical activation of solids. The shake wave model of the transformation of the mechanical energy to chemical and other types of energy is proposed. On the basis of the investigations into the equilibrium in phosphate-calcium aqueous systems and into the chemical composition of natural apatites of phosphate ores, a structure-chemical classification of apatites is proposed. The ways to govern mechanical activation and optimal conditions of mechanical treatment are shown for specific mineralogical types of phosphate ores, which will permit them to use for the purpose of using them as commercial phospate fertilizer. The data are presented on the mechanochemical synthesis of isomorphous modifications of apatite crystals with broad range of substitutions obtained directly in activators.

Electromagnetic defectoscopy of casing strings in oil and gas boreholes

Theoretical and methodical background of the electromagnetic method of eddy current intended for defectoscopy of casing strings and estimation of strains in the vicinity of a borehole are considered. The solution has been proposed to a problem of transient electromagnetic field of a current loop in a conducting magnetic cylindrically layered medium. The problem is solved for idealized physicomathematical model such as a system of coaxial cylindrical films relevant to a multistring construction. The approximate solution is given to a problem for a 2D-model that is nonuniform in conductivity on the base of the Born approximation. Algorithms for log inversion have been constructed, and the accuracy of determination of casing string parameters has been estimated. Electromagnetic method to estimate strain variations in the near-borehole geological space has been validated physically. It has been shown that the values of natural strains in rocks are comparable with acting strains when investigating the magnetoelastic effect in ferromagnets. The sensitivity of transient signals to magnetic permeability of metal casing strings has been determined.

Tectonics and petroleum potential of the Mesozoic-Cenozoic deposits of the Southeastern regions of West Siberia

The tectonic structure and petroleum potential of the southeastern West Siberian Province are considered. Voluminous information on seismic exploration and deep drilling conducted in the last decades was generalized. Regional synthetic seismic profiles were first constructed and their seismostratigraphic interpretation was made. The structural maps were compiled and described for the major reflecting horizons in the Meso-Cenozoic sedimentary cover. Based on statistic analysis of morphometric information, proposals were formulated for refining the criteria for classification of tectonic structures as applied to the young platform areas. The scheme of the tectonic structure of the Jurassic structural stage was compiled and described in detail for the southeastern regions of the West Siberian geosyneclise. On the basis of statistic, paleotectonic, seismofacies, and dynamic approaches and using the apparatus of mathematical modeling of the wave fields, methodical techniques were developed for detecting and mapping the complexly structured oil- and gas-promising targets in the Jurassic reservoirs different in structure and genesis. The regularities of distribution of hydrocarbon accumulations and criteria for predicting the petroleum potential of some reservoirs were considered. Proposals for the trends in geologic exploration were elaborated.

The Silurian of the northwestern Siberian Platform

This report present the zoning, stratigraphy, formations, types of rocks, facies, and fauna of the Sulurian of the northwestern Siberian Platform (north of the Arctic circle), supplemented by an atlas of lithologic types of rocks and index-species. The stratigraphic scheme includes characteristics of the global scale, regional and local stratigraphic units and the facies they are confined to. Rock types are described in formations, subformations, and macrolithotypes. All groups of fauna found here are described, and their distribution in chronozones is shown. Index-species of tabulate corals, stromatoporoids, brachiopods, conodonts, and ostracodes are discussed with indication of the depth of their occurrence.

The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for the presentation of developments in Information Technologies for Remote Sensing of Siberian regions, to discuss technological advances and research results in the fields of theoretical and applied image processing, to discuss new technologies of receiving and storage of remote sensing information, to assist in definition of future directions of research for accessing that information by using modern telecommunication systems and to promote and enhance international collaboration.
The place and time of the conference are connected with the decision of the Government of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous District (K-MAD) to establish the Science and Educational Center in Khanty-Mansiysk. At the first step the Center will consist of the Ugra State University and the Ugra Research Information Technology Institute. Creation of the modern remote sensing center in Khanty-Mansiysk for environmental monitoring, geology, oil and gas exploration etc., will be one of the activity directions of the IT Institute.

The data on long-term researches of the composition and vital activity of micro-organisms in soils, soil-like formations, urban soils, snow, thawing waters, industrial slimes, wastes of economic minerals, sewage residues have been originally given. By the example of functional zones of Novosibirsk and its outskirts there are considered contemporary situations of transformation of microbe communities in urban soils, specific feature of evolution of micro-bocenoses and their functions in urban soils.
